@lhinds, @fdegir I just invited Rosella to join the discussion too, but am wondering if there's a better way to detect the underlying Linux distro. I've been using this:
if [ -f "/etc/centos-release" ]; then
elif [ -f "/etc/lsb-release" ]; then
elif [[ -f "/etc/SuSE-release" ]]; then
for tool in $java_tools; do
printf "We have detected a derivitive OS of $OS.\n\n"
One of the things I've noticed on SLES 12 SP2 is that there's a warning that /etc/SuSE is going to be going away. I can get the same info from /etc/issue, but not sure if there's a more universal method that you guys are using for this. What I don't want is to have multiple build scripts depending on the specific OS. I'm trying to get away from that.
